It’s Monday morning, time for another Blog Fair – but I’m hanging up the closed sign instead.
But before I go into that, let’s finish off with last week’s Blog Fair…
We had a three-way-tie for the most clicked posts, so let’s share them all!
Lisasaurus shared another inspiring post straight from the heart with How have I been?
The KonMari Journey from Teacher By Trade, Mother by Nature has proved popular again, with her post KonMari Method Tag Q and A.
And the Blueberry Challah French Toast from Vegging At the Shore looks so delicious, I’m not surprised you gobbled it up fast.
And my favourite post of the week was My Top 10 Favourite Homeschooling Tools from Lil Mama Homeschool. Although I don’t homeschool I still loved this post for it’s simplicity. Back to basics with paper, pens and a sense of humor!
And now back to my decision to have a break from blogging…
I’ve been feeling like I needed a bit of a rest from blogging for some time now, but kept putting it off for a number of reasons.
First, I would miss it – and miss you! I’ve loved this huge learning curve that I have been on. I knew nothing about blogging when I started and have learnt so much from reading other blogs. I’ve also learnt a lot about homemaking as I have researched what I am going to write about, and also from reading posts at link parties. Sometimes on subjects that I would not normally have read about, yet they meant so much to me.
I’ve also really enjoyed the connections and friendships I have made along the way. And hope that I have contributed positively in some way to the lives and homes of the people who have connected with me and my blog.
Second, I worried that I would lose what I have built up over the last two years. Although my process has been slow it has still taken me a lot of work to get to this stage. Since I started using Boardbooster I have doubled my pinterest followers in the last two months which has really boosted my confidence too. I’m planning to still keep pinning, so if you are not already following me on pinterest I’d love you to join me. 🙂
However, I feel that now is the time to take that rest. I need time to refresh myself, spend time on other things both for myself and my family. And I also think that the blog needs a rest too. I feel like it is looking a bit tired as well, and needs a new direction. I was reminded yesterday of the practice of leaving a field to fallow. The farmer would plough the field but not plant anything in it and leave it to rest for a year to allow the field to become more fertile. By leaving the field for a year the field would then produce a greater crop the following year.
This really spoke to me. Maybe I’ve been too focused on productivity, and posting because I thought I needed too, when I should have been taking a step back and thinking about what I want to post and where I want the blog to go.
I need to stop worrying about what might happen if I take a rest, and just do it.
So, sorry, there will be no link party this week, and I am not sure when I will be back posting again. And when I am, the blog may have a renewed freshness, a different theme or a different focus. I will hopefully also be refreshed and renewed.
Thanks for joining me on this blogging journey, I hope you won’t have forgotten me when I return!
Until then, take care.
