I hadn’t planned on having all my cleaning tasks from the kitchen, but since I’ve started that way I thought I would continue. So, this week’s cleaning task is the microwave.
After I’ve used the microwave I tend to close the door and forget about it. So, if there have been any explosions they can get dried on before I get round to cleaning it. Here’s a simple way to moisten the mess and easily wipe it off and leave the microwave clean.
Fill a microwavable bowl or jug with 1 cup of water and ½ a cup of vinegar. (I’ve seen various ratios on different websites but have decided that this ratio works for me.)
Heat in microwave for 5 minutes then leave for a few minutes more for the steam to get to work.
Carefully lift the jug or bowl out of the microwave (use oven gloves or towel).
Remove the glass plate and wash it in soapy water.
Wipe the inside of the microwave with a damp cloth and it should clean up pretty easily.
Give the outside and underneath the microwave a wipe with the cloth while you are there.
The vinegar smell will soon evaporate, but if you want you can add a slice of lemon or a few drops of vanilla for a fresh smell.
