Recently I’ve been sent a number of products from Kiwi Mummy Bloggers to review on my blog. It’s a bit like Christmas when the packages arrive and we open them up, wondering what is inside. The last package was one that really interested me – cleaning products from a company called Able Products.
I had seen an segment about this company on television some time ago, so I was aware of who they were and what they did, but had not seen or tried their products before. If you are not aware of Able, this is what it says on their website:
Able Products are products that make a difference by helping to create work for people with disabilities. Able Products are made in New Zealand by New Zealand companies – they share their products with us and we wrap them in the Able brand. When you buy Able Products you are making a difference. You get great products that do good, smell good and do a great job too! Plus when you purchase Able Products you can select another organisation that has joined us as a supporter and we will donate to them too. How good is that?
I was sent a bottle of their toilet cleaner and a bottle of the dish wash liquid. The toilet cleaner worked well, and I particularly liked that it didn’t lather up, so was quick and easy to use. The dish liquid is also doing a great job of cleaning my dishes. The bottle I was sent was for their regular Dish Wash liquid, but I noticed on their website and Facebook page that they now have a plant based dish wash as well.
The instructions on the bottle said that this could also be used for cleaning more than just dishes. Here is a video I found on their Facebook page of their employees using the dish wash liquid to clean up Mission Bay.
I was particularly interested in the directions on the bottle for using the Dish Washing Liquid to clean windows. Some time ago I created a system for cleaning my windows with just water, a squeegee and a microfiber cloth. I was loving this method as it gave me streak-free windows really quickly, but I thought I would add a couple of drops of the Able Dish Wash to test it out. I was concerned that it would leave streaks on the window but there was no need to worry, and it was much faster at removing those dirty, greasy handprints from the glass.
So here’s my method:
How to get streak-free windows – fast
What you need:
I keep them in a cleaning caddy. The other spray bottle contains vinegar water, which I use for cleaning the window frames.
What to do:
Start by spraying the window with the water and dish liquid. Spray more for stubborn stains. You may want to place a towel under the window to soak up any water that drips. For outside windows you could hose the windows first.
Use a squeegee to wipe the water on the windows.
Wipe the window with the dry microfiber cloth. You don’t need to wipe it too much or get rid of all the water marks as they should disappear quickly.
Done! Nice clean, streak-free windows in no time.
I will definitely be continuing to use the Able Products.
