You know what happens when you decide to reorganise your pantry? Before you have all your supplies neat and tidy you have a huge mess in your kitchen (known as the messy middle). Or do you know that feeling when you move house? You’ve made all the preparations but it all comes down to the day you move, and then you discover things don’t fit the way you had envisioned. That’s how I felt last week when I gave the blog a major make-over.

I’d bought the ‘house’ – the Market Theme from Restored 316 – and done some planning of how I wanted it to look. But it wasn’t until I’d done the big move that I was able to set things up. Colours needed to be changed, pictures needed to be resized, and I added a few new things as well. It’s not quite perfect (these things take time) but I’m excited to show you around. So, let’s take a tour of the blog’s new look!
The first thing I added was a new home page. Now, instead of going straight to the blog, you can see a variety of options to choose from. The menu will take you to a number of pages, let’s highlight a few new ones:
The Freebies page is where I keep all the resources I have made. This includes worksheets, planners and check-sheets for organising your home, your life and (if you have one) your blog. This page is exclusive access to subscribers only, so if you’re not yet a subscriber fill in the box below!
Another feature of my blog’s new look is the Resource page. This is where I highlight all the resources I use. Everything from the vacuum cleaner to the website I use to edit photos.
Under my new logo I have another menu which lists the categories for my blog posts. I have reorganised my posts into four categories: focus, food, family and home-making. Three are categories I already had, but the first one – Focus – is a new category which I’m excited to tell you about.
‘Focus’ is my Word for 2017. My main goal for this year is to be more focused and intentional about what I do and how I spend my time. I’ve realised recently that in order to make progress with any habits or projects I have I needed to learn a few things about productivity, goal setting and time-management. These are areas that I’ll be sharing about a lot this year as I keep learning and implementing new tricks. I’ve already written a few posts in this category – the most popular is How to Start a Bullet Journal.
Helpful Resources for creating my Blog’s new look
Before I leave you to have a nosey around the rest of the website, let me mention a few resources that were super helpful in creating my new look:
Restored 316 – You can find a great range of beautiful themes at Restored 316. Each theme also has a tutorial to guide you through the set up process. I even found a webinar for setting up the Market theme – Bonus!
What the Tech by Lesley Clavijo from Chaotically Creative was particularly helpful for setting up the template I wanted for the blog, as well as some coding instruction.
Building a Framework by Abby Lawson from Just a Girl and Her Blog is a must read if you are considering starting a blog – or want some refresher tips if you already have one.
I’d love to know what you think of the new look. If there is anything that’s not working right please let me know. I’ve still got a bit of work to do in resizing images – but at least changing the colour scheme of my blog is easier than changing the colour scheme of my house!
